Montreal, Thursday, June 19, 2014—RDS, exclusive French-language broadcaster of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the Montreal Alouettes, will offer Canadian gridiron fans its most comprehensive coverage ever during the 2014 season—including almost 50 regular-season games plus new features such as the BLITZ news magazine and CFL edition of the Fantasy Football game.
In addition to airing 18 Montreal Alouettes games, RDS will show 15 games involving the Ottawa REDBLACKS—a new team joining the CFL this season—as well as around 20 other regular-season games featuring the league’s best teams (see the full broadcast schedule below). On top of that, RDS will broadcast every single playoff game and the 102nd GREY CUP.
PRE-SEASON GAME
Before the official start of the CFL season, RDS will present the pre-season game between the Montreal Alouettes and the Ottawa Redblacks on Friday, June 20, starting at 6:30 p.m. ET (including the pre-game show), live from McGill University’s Molson Stadium.
Following the match, L’ANTICHAMBRE will wrap up its season in style with a special edition focusing exclusively on the Alouettes. For this special occasion, the panel on Quebec’s number-one sports talk show will be stationed next to the field, where they will be joined by RDS’s football experts.
BROADCAST TEAM
David Arsenault and Pierre Vercheval will handle play-by-play commentary and analysis of Alouettes games this season. They will be supported by host Matthieu Proulx, analyst Bruno Heppell and reporter Didier Orméjuste. This reliable and dedicated broadcast team will be rounded out by Claude Mailhot and Mike Sutherland, who will present other CFL games.
BLITZ: NEW FOOTBALL MAGAZINE
Matthieu Proulx will host the brand-new show BLITZ, a news magazine devoted exclusively to football. Broadcast every Monday on RDS at 6:30 p.m. ET, starting on June 23, the show will run down everything that matters in the world of football, with an emphasis on the CFL and its teams, including the Alouettes and REDBLACKS. With analysis, reports, interviews, commentary and behind-the- scenes insights, football fans will truly get their fill.
ANALYSIS AND OPINION
The RDS INFO channel and SPORTS 30, in both its news report and magazine editions, will provide complete coverage of all things Alouettes and CFL throughout the season. In particular, SPORTS 30 will present special 60 minute post-game shows whenever the Alouettes play at home this summer, starting on July 4. In the fall, Le 5 À 7 will also keep close tabs on the Alouettes and the CFL, while L’ANTICHAMBRE will cover the season’s key moments.
DIGITAL CONTENT
RDS.ca is another outstanding source of information, with special sections devoted to the CFL and the Alouettes. In addition to providing all the major news, reports on each game and weekly columns by Pierre Vercheval and Matthieu Proulx, RDS.ca offers exclusive web content: analyses by David Arsenault and Pierre Vercheval plus locker room reactions obtained by Didier Orméjuste immediately after each Alouettes game.
INTERACTIVE FEATURES
There’s a new addition to RDS’s interactive features this season: the CFL edition of Fantasy Football. The game involves choosing the lineup of seven players who will accumulate the most points each week, based on the scoring system rules, while staying under the salary cap of $1 million.
Fans can also enjoy two other interactive options back on RDS.ca: the CFL predictions game, in which online players are invited to predict the winners of each week’s games as well as the team that will score the most points during that time, and Jeu du match, in which participants can choose their favourite play in each Alouettes game from a comprehensive selection of highlights.
