TORONTO (May 25, 2016) – Canadians continue to rally around the
Toronto Raptors in record-shattering numbers, with the team’s Game 4 victory over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night becoming the
most-watched basketball game in Canadian TV history. Overnight data from Numeris confirms the game attracted
an all-time record average audience of 1.8 million viewers to TSN.
The Raptors’ Game 4 on TSN was also the
most-watched program on Canadian television on Monday, and the
most-watched program of the day in the Greater Toronto Area, achieving a
36.5% share, meaning more than one in three people watching television in Toronto on Monday were tuned to the game.
In total, more than
5.5 million unique Canadian viewers tuned in for Game 4, which saw Raptors stars Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan combine for 67 points. Audience levels peaked at
3.2 million viewers in the fourth quarter as the Raptors survived a late-game push from the Cavs to secure a tense 105-99 victory and even the series at two games apiece.
