TORONTO (September 4, 2019) – As Canada’s most-trusted source for news and analysis leading up to this fall’s federal election, CTV News today launched TREND LINE, a new podcast featuring one of Canada’s best-known and most trusted pollsters, Nik Nanos. Alongside co-host and CTV News producer Michael Stittle, Nanos provides insight into the public mood of Canadian voters in a light-hearted and entertaining style.

With new 15-minute episodes debuting three times a week during the election, TREND LINE keeps Canadians informed on all the latest polling results and tracking numbers, with full analysis from Nanos and Stittle.

TREND LINE is available now on CTVNews.ca, iHeartRadio Canada, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, and Google Podcasts.

“We’re excited to augment CTV News’ leading and comprehensive federal election coverage with expert polling analysis on TREND LINE,” said Wendy Freeman, President, CTV News. “Nik and Michael will keep voters across the country informed on the most up-to-date polling news and information in an easy to consume format.”

“Every election campaign features many unique stories and constant changes in public opinion,” said Nanos. “We’re looking forward to breaking it all down as Canadians look to elect their next government.”

As the official pollster for CTV News, Nik Nanos leads Nanos Research, one of Canada’s most distinguished research companies, boasting a formidable reputation in Ottawa and across the country. His team publishes the Nanos Power Index, charting the strength of Canada’s federal political parties, as well as the Bloomberg Nanos Canadian Confidence Index, considered a must-have resource for senior executives.

Michael Stittle joined CTV News in 2006. Based in Toronto, he currently leads the organization’s evening online editorial team, working closely with CTV NATIONAL NEWS. With a significant interest in Canadian politics, Stittle has covered multiple federal budgets, led election night coverage for CTVNews.ca, and was part of the team that won the RTDNA’s Ron Laidlaw Award for ongoing digital reporting on the 2015 federal election.

Also launching this week is ATTENTION CONTROL, a new podcast hosted by longtime CTV News host Kevin Newman dealing with the impact digital media has on the federal election. The weekly podcast will provide investigative reporting, interviews with election experts, and new updates informing Canadians on how the Internet affects public opinion.

TREND LINE joins CTV News’ slate of popular podcasts including QUESTION PERIOD, POWER PLAY, POP LIFE, VIEWPOINTS WITH TODD VAN DER HEYDEN, and more. CTV News’ podcasts are a part of Bell Media’s nearly 100 original English and French titles among the more than 250,000 podcasts currently featured on iHeartRadio Canada.
