TORONTO (June 16, 2021) W SERIES, TSN, and RDS announced today a multi-year media rights agreement, making Bell Media’s sports networks the Canadian home of the all-female professional motor racing series. Presented in partnership with FORMULA 1®, the 2021 W SERIES schedule features eight events, beginning Saturday, June 26 live from the Styrian Grand Prix in Spielberg, Austria.

2021 marks the second season for W SERIES, which aims to promote diversity in motorsport, and create a pathway for female racing drivers to compete in the upper tiers of motorsport.

W SERIES’ mission will always be to further the interests and prospects of female racing drivers, and to inspire girls and women everywhere,” said Catherine Bond Muir, Chief Executive Officer, W SERIES. “Racing in partnership with FORMULA 1 in 2021, coupled with the support of our global network of broadcasters, will significantly increase our reach, impact and influence by placing W SERIES on motor racing’s greatest stage and taking us to new audiences and territories. Our drivers are ready and raring to put on a fantastic show.”

“We are extremely excited for TSN and RDS to become the Canadian home of W SERIES, adding even more live events to our expansive roster of women’s sports coverage,” said Nathalie Cook, VP, TSN & RDS. “We’re proud to partner with this ground-breaking auto racing series, and we can’t wait to showcase these talented drivers for viewers across Canada, as they continue to change the face of motorsport.”

About W SERIES
W SERIES is a free-to-enter motor racing championship, which provides equal opportunities for women and eliminates the financial barriers that have historically prevented them from progressing to the upper tiers of motorsport.

All W SERIES cars and corresponding equipment are the same specification and managed by the series, ensuring that our races and championships are won by the most talented drivers, rather than those with the wealthiest backers or the fastest cars. W SERIES was the second-most-watched women’s sport in the UK behind football during our inaugural season in 2019, and since then the series has created the greatest number of female professional racing drivers of all time.

W SERIES aims to create a pathway for female racing drivers, encouraging more girls into junior karting and more sponsors to support female racing drivers as they progress into the upper tiers of motorsport. The more high-profile female role models it can create, the more W SERIES believes it will inspire young girls to go karting – if you can see it, you can be it. The world will be watching in 2021 when W SERIES will stage eight races in partnership with FORMULA 1, the world’s premier motor racing series, starting at the Styrian Grand Prix, Austria, on June 26.
