TSN Attracts Average Audience of 1.75 Million for Canada’s 2014 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP Shootout Thriller Against Czechs

TORONTO (December 31, 2013)
– TSN’s coverage of Canada’s thrilling shootout loss to the Czech Republic at the 2014 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP was the most-watched program in Canada last Saturday. Overnight data from BBM Canada confirms that an average audience of 1.75 million Canadians watched Team Canada’s 11:30 a.m. ET game against Czech Republic on Saturday, Dec. 28. It’s the most-watched audience on record for a non-North American preliminary round game at the World Juniors, and made TSN the most-watched channel overall in Canada on Saturday.

Overall, nearly 4.6 million unique viewers Team Canada’s 5-4 shootout loss to the Czech Republic. Audience levels peaked at 2:08 p.m. ET with 2.7 million viewers during the shootout. In total, TSN and TSN2’s live coverage of the World Juniors on Saturday attracted 5.6 million unique viewers.

Audience data for Canada’s New Year’s Eve game against the U.S. today will be available in the coming days.

Coverage of the World Juniors continues Thursday, Jan. 2 on TSN and TSN2 with all four quarter-final games, and concludes this weekend with both semifinals, bronze, and gold medal games.
