TORONTO (December 19, 2013) – With one week until the World Juniors, TSN announced it will debut the first live sports execution of Twitter Amplify in Canada as a complement to its extensive broadcast coverage of the 2014 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP (World Juniors, #2014WJC). Sponsored by McDonald’s Canada, TSN’s World Juniors Twitter Amplify campaign will begin leveraging real-time video highlights on the social media platform when the puck drops on Boxing Day.
TSN’s official Twitter account (@TSN_Sports) will share exclusive embedded video content from the biggest moments of the World Juniors, allowing hockey fans to instantly access video highlights from the tournament on Twitter. All video tweets will be sponsored by McDonald’s Canada.
Already a leader in Canada’s social media landscape and home to the country’s most-followed media personalities – led by Hockey Insider and leading junior hockey expert Bob McKenzie – this latest initiative with Twitter Canada further extends TSN’s reach to fans during one of the most-watched and most-anticipated events on the Canadian sports calendar.
“As Team Canada goes for gold, sharing pivotal highlights from the tournament through Twitter Amplify will enrich the World Juniors experience for fans,” said Stewart Johnston, President of TSN. “With this campaign, we aren’t just complementing our extensive coverage of the World Juniors – we’re ensuring that even more Canadians can celebrate the most galvanizing moments of the tournament, as they happen.”
“The World Juniors is a uniquely Canadian hockey tradition and unites this country in a very special way every year. It is the perfect event to launch our first Twitter Amplify partnership with Bell Media,” said Kirstine Stewart, Head of Twitter Canada. “Hockey fans all over Canada, and on Twitter, will now have the chance to see all the action, no matter where they are.”
TSN’s World Juniors execution marks the first Twitter Amplify program delivered by a Bell Media platform since Twitter and Bell Media announced their partnership earlier this year. Additional announcements on Bell Media Twitter Amplify campaigns will be announced in the New Year.
