

TSN Platforms Deliver Five Games on Championship Sunday, the Final Matchday of the 2013-14 BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE Season

TORONTO (May 8, 2014) – Rookie sensation Nathan MacKinnon leads Team Canada into the 2014 IIHF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, live on TSN from May 9-25. TSN’s exclusive live coverage from Minsk, Belarus begins Friday, May 9 at 9:30 a.m. ET with Canada’s opening game against France followed by USA vs. Belarus at 1:30 p.m. ET. Coverage includes all Team Canada and Team USA matchups, plus the playoffs and Gold Medal Game (see complete broadcast schedule below).
The 2014 IIHF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP features the top men’s hockey teams from 16 countries, and is headlined by star players not participating in the NHL Playoffs. Looking to win gold for the first time since 2007, Canada’s roster is packed with emerging game-breakers including Sean Monahan, Morgan Reilly, Kyle Turris, Nazem Kadri, and Jonathan Huberdeau. It’s also a reunion between the pipes for James Reimer and his former Leafs teammate Ben Scrivens. Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa captains this year’s squad.
Behind the bench, Team Canada is led by Phoenix Coyotes’ head coach Dave Tippett, alongside assistant coaches Peter DeBoer, head coach of the New Jersey Devils, and Paul Maurice, head coach of the Winnipeg Jets.

Calling all Team Canada games are play-by-play commentator Dave Randorf alongside 11-year NHL veteran and Stanley Cup champion Shane Hnidy. In the broadcast booth for all Team USA games are play-by-play commentator Dennis Beyak and Dave Reid, an 18-year NHL veteran and two-time Stanley Cup champion. In the TSN Studio, host Rod Black breaks down all the action with Bob Errey, a former World Champion and two-time Stanley Cup champion.
TSN’s Brent Wallace is on-site in Minsk to deliver reports from rinkside during Team Canada games and file stories on the team for SPORTSCENTRE.
