TORONTO (February 18, 2016) – Jennifer Jones looks to capture a second consecutive championship as TSN delivers greatly expanded multi-feed coverage of the 2016 SCOTTIES TOURNAMENT OF HEARTS from Grande Prairie, Alta. TSN continues its Season of Champions coverage with multiple feature draws throughout the preliminary round at Canada’s women’s national curling championship, beginning with Draw 1 from the SCOTTIES this Saturday, Feb. 20 at 3:30 p.m. ET on TSN1, TSN3, and TSN4 (see below for complete broadcast schedule).
With its expanded multi-sheet coverage, TSN will deliver more than 100 hours of live SCOTTIES draws across its national feeds – 50% more SCOTTIES action as was broadcast in 2015. Last year’s SCOTTIES was the most-watched ever, with 7 million unique Canadian viewers watching some part of the 2015 SCOTTIES TOURNAMENT OF HEARTS on TSN.*

TSN’s acclaimed team of play-by-play announcer Vic Rauter, analyst Russ Howard, a two-time Brier champion and 2006 Olympic gold medallist, and 2010 Olympic silver medallist Cheryl Bernard are set to call the action from Grande Prarie’s Revolution Place. Also in the broadcast booth are play-by-play announcer Bryan Mudryk and analyst Cathy Gauthier, a three-time SCOTTIES winner and 2015 Women’s World Senior Champion. Former Newfoundland and Labrador champion Stephanie LeDrew rounds out the broadcast team with reports from rinkside.
2016 SCOTTIES TOURNAMENT OF HEARTS Outlook (via TSN.ca)
The biggest storyline heading into the 2016 SCOTTIES TOURNAMENT OF HEARTS is who won’t be on the ice at the national championship. Two-time SCOTTIES champ Rachel Homan and her Ottawa rink were stunned by Jenn Hanna in the Ontario provincial final, while Edmonton’s Val Sweeting, a back-to-back SCOTTIES finalist, was upset by Chelsea Carey in Alberta. Saskatchewan’s Stefanie Lawton also fell in her provincial final. Both Homan and Sweeting are in the top four of the World Curling Tour’s money list and widely considered two of the best curling teams in the world.
With a number of the sport’s most familiar names not competing, the field of newcomers has the chance to put their rink on the map with a week of memorable curling. Jennifer Jones and her Winnipeg rink will play as Team Canada in Grande Prairie, Alta., after winning the 2015 SCOTTIES title in Moose Jaw, Sask. They will be the undisputed favourites going in, but will be challenged by the likes of Alberta’s Carey, Ontario’s Hanna, Manitoba’s Kerri Einarson, Prince Edward Island’s Suzanne Birt, and Northern Ontario’s Krista McCarville.
