Key Storylines
Leading up to the 2016 edition of the

- Sidney Crosby has been named the #1 player for six straight seasons – will the captain of the champion Pittsburgh Penguins retain his top spot?
- 2015 #1 draft pick Connor McDavid was ranked #37 last year, becoming the first player with no NHL experience named to the Top 50 – how high will he rank this season?
- Will 2016 #1 draft pick Auston Matthews become the second player to crack the Top 50 before playing a single NHL regular season game?
- Johnny Gaudreau doesn’t have a contract, but Johnny Hockey is sure to have a place in the Top 50: the question is – where?
