Tennis fans can look forward to watching an all-star field of top tennis players take the court throughout the 2020 AUSTRALIAN OPEN. Naomi Osaka looks to defend her 2019 AUSTRALIAN OPEN title against a star-studded women’s field that includes 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams, world #1-ranked player Ashleigh Barty, as well as Canada’s Leylah Annie Fernandez, who is currently competing in qualifying action in the hopes of booking her ticket to the main draw. The men’s field features defending champion Novak Djokovic, world #1-ranked player Rafael Nadal, and 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer, as well as Canadians Denis Shapovalov, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Milos Raonic, and Vasek Pospisil. In response to the devastating bushfires impacting Australia, Tennis Australia is raising support and awareness for disaster relief through the Aces for Bushfire Relief initiative. Multiple players will make donations for every ace they serve in Australia, and fans can show their support by participating in the #Aces4BushfireRelief campaign, which encourages tennis fans around the world to serve an ‘ace’ and donate to the disaster relief effort. Additionally, this week the AUSTRALIAN OPEN hosted the AO RALLY FOR RELIEF exhibition match featuring many of the biggest stars in tennis, including Williams, Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic. TSN airs an encore broadcast of the event ahead of First Round tournament coverage on Sunday, Jan. 19 at 3 p.m. ET on TSN1 and TSN4. The AUSTRALIAN OPEN is the first of the four tennis Grand Slam tournaments airing exclusively on TSN, continuing with the FRENCH OPEN, WIMBLEDON, and US OPEN.
