TORONTO (Friday, June 26, 2020) – Athlete empowerment brand UNINTERRUPTED Canada, presents their latest digital roundtable, The Hockey Diversity Alliance – The Beginning, scheduled to be released on UNINTERRUPTED’s YouTube channel on Monday, June 29th at 11am ET. This exclusive segment features Alliance co-head and San Jose Sharks forward, Evander Kane and former NHL player, Akim Aliu, along with Buffalo Sabres forward, Wayne Simmonds, Detroit Red Wings defenseman Trevor Daley, Minnesota Wild defenseman, Matt Dumba, Philadelphia Flyers forward, Chris Stewart, Colorado Avalanche forward, Nazem Kadri, Ottawa Senators forward, Anthony Duclair, and retired NHL player, Joel Ward. The conversation is moderated by Canadian film director, screenwriter and former pro hockey player, Charles Officer.

The hockey community is not immune to this reality and I’m proud to stand with my fellow founding members of the Alliance to help educate and mobilize towards a more progressive future,” said Evander Kane, NHL player and co-head of The Hockey Diversity Alliance. “Our partnership with UNINTERRUPTED Canada, along with this roundtable discussion and the various other initiatives we’re working on with them will ensure our voices are heard.”

The issues covered during this raw and revealing roundtable include the motivation behind the creation of The Hockey Diversity Alliance, the organization’s founding principles and objectives, how we can all become agents of change and the members’ personal experience with racism and intolerance in the NHL and the broader hockey community.

Scheduled for release in early 2021, the feature length documentary and additional projects will chronicle the diverse stories of Alliance members and cover various topics of race as it relates to the experiences that players of colour face while striving to succeed in the sport that they love.
