Toronto, ON (September 17, 2012) W5, North America’s longest-running investigative program, pulls no punches when it begins its 47th season this Saturday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. ET on CTV. Host and Chief Correspondent Lloyd Robertson and the W5 team present a wide range of compelling, hard-hitting stories, from government waste to up-close and personal interviews. W5’s lineup this season includes an exclusive and intimate look at the life of one celebrity suffering from MS – Annette Funicello – and her quest to fund research into a controversial treatment. W5 also investigates a community ravaged by the overuse of prescription drugs and takes an inspirational look at a possible treatment for children with autism. The most-watched documentary series on Canadian television*, W5’s new season begins with a topic that’s close to home for thousands across the country: sexting.

W5’s first report of the 47th season comes from CTV’s Sandie Rinaldo. In “Sext-Ed”, W5 goes inside the sexting sub-culture of teens, and reveals the devastating consequences that can occur when teens share explicit photos online. W5 examines the issues, what teens are being taught about the consequences, and how they should be punished for maliciously disseminating naked photos of their peers. W5 exposes the exploding problem that is challenging educators, police, and parents, and all too often spirals into the newest and most insidious form of cyber-bullying.

W5 can also be seen Tuesdays at 11 p.m. ET, and Wednesdays at 3 a.m. ET, 6a.m. ET and 12Noon ET on Investigation Discovery, and on demandat CTVNews.ca/W5, the CTV Mobile channel on Bell Mobile TV, and through video on demand partners, such as Bell Fibe TV (visit CTV.ca for local listings).
