TORONTO (December 6, 2018) – After a month of thrilling MLS Cup Playoffs, two teams prevail and are set to faceoff in the 2018 MLS CUP, with Atlanta United hosting the Portland Timbers. As the official English-language broadcaster of MLS in Canada, TSN provides exclusive coverage of the championship matchup on Saturday, Dec. 8 beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET on TSN1, TSN3, and TSN5. The winner-take-all game is broadcast live from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, with coverage available for TSN Direct subscribers via TSN.ca/Live and the TSN app. The acclaimed MLS ON TSN crew of Kristian Jack and Luke Wileman are on site in Atlanta, providing coverage on SPORTSCENTRE and TSN.ca both leading up to the big match, as well as post-game. Following an Eastern Conference Final victory against the New York Red Bulls, Atlanta United will compete in the MLS CUP championship for the first time in franchise history. Founded only two years ago, the young team secured their spot by building a 3-0 lead in Leg #1. In Leg #2, Atlanta’s strong defence left their opponents with little chance at a comeback, ultimately finishing the series with a 3-1 aggregate victory. The Portland Timbers edged Sporting KC in the Western Conference Final, returning to the MLS Cup for the second time in four years. After a scoreless draw in Leg #1, the Timbers came back from an early deficit in the second leg, with a final aggregate score of 3-2. Portland secured their first and only MLS CUP in 2015.
