In a world where 2% of human beings have vanished from the face of the Earth without a trace, the townspeople of Mapleton are confronted with a mystery as several of their neighbours, friends and lovers suddenly disappear. Three years later, as commemoration ceremonies are being prepared, Sheriff Kevin Garvey is on high alert: it seems that dangerous confrontations are brewing between townspeople and a small group making mysterious demands.
