About

Spanning the 70s, 80s, and 90s over eight half-hour episodes, NEW EDEN is a hilariously complex, true crime parody that begins in 1977, when Katherine Wryfield (Lorette) and Grace Lee (Rosen) attempt to start a large scale feminist utopia, “New Eden.” While intentions for this would-be utopia were noble, in the inexperienced hands of Lee and Wryfield, the community quickly devolves into drug addled, alien-goddess worshipping chaos…and murder. Definitely some murder.

Synopses

  • S1 - Episode 101

    "Who Are These Women?"

Former cult leaders turned convicts, Katherine Wryfield and Grace Lee, are interviewed about New Eden for the first time in a decade by two unseen documentarians. Using archival footage, interviews, and news clips, they begin to take us through the events that transformed New Eden from a feminist utopia into a drug addled, alien-worshipping disaster space…not to mention the murders.

  • S1 - Episode 102

    "Funny Honey"

Katherine and Grace recount the incident at the 1977 Halworth Fall Fair that put New Eden on the map, and the shocking events that lead to the coming of “Gaion.” Interviews with former cult members discuss whether Katherine and Grace’s actions were criminal or accidental.

  • S1 - Episode 103

    "Go With Gaion"

In the past, Grace and Katherine are taken aback by Amy’s unexpected announcement as local law enforcement make their presence known. In interviews, Amy walks us through the Gaionic myth while others reveal a mix of nostalgia and shame surrounding New Eden’s change of direction.

  • S1 - Episode 104

    "Party's Over, Girls!"

With New Eden’s funds dwindling, Grace attempts a hail mary to save the day, but according to Katherine, she only makes matters worse. Interviews take us through the controversial Joining Ceremony and the many events that lead to the downfall of New Eden.

  • S1 - Episode 105

    "A Whole Lotta Buzz"

Katherine and Grace recall the sensational events following the police raid of the New Eden compound, the media frenzy whipped up by their American attorney, and all the gruesome surprises that came next.

  • S1 - Episode 106

    "My Lord"

Relying heavily on the 1983 trial footage, we are taken through the unprecedented and at times humiliating proceedings that would land Grace and Katherine where they are today – behind bars.

  • S1 - Episode 107

    "Forbidden Fruit"

With Grace and Katherine’s release only a few months away, documentarians Travis and Jake decide to come clean about their intentions for the doc, and finally reveal the truth about what initially sparked their interest in Grace and Katherine’s story.

  • S1 - Episode 108

    "Helen Lafayette"

Flash-forward to 1994. Familiar faces return in this pulpy, overly-sensational recap of a 3 year manhunt for a violent killer named Helen Lafayette...of course, we know her by another name.
