In Season 3 of CTV’s CARDINAL, entitled CARDINAL: BY THE TIME YOU READ THIS, the autumn season starts to shroud Algonquin Bay, but the glorious fall colours can’t hide the town’s most gruesome double murder. As Detective’s John Cardinal (Billy Campbell, THE KILLING) and Lise Delorme’s (Karine Vanasse, REVENGE) investigation brings them precariously close to a doomsday cult with nothing to lose, Cardinal launches his own investigation into a case far more personal and dangerous. With doubts about Catherine’s (Deborah Hay, The Anniversary) suicide swirling beneath Cardinal’s placid exterior, Delorme stretched thin in her role as lead investigator on an increasingly complex, and far-reaching case, the pursuit of the killers will push them both to the breaking point. Delorme must decide whether she can trust Cardinal, or whether the death of his wife has sent him into a delusional state that puts the entire case at risk.
In the aftermath of Catherine’s (Deborah Hay, The Anniversary) suicide, Detective John Cardinal (Billy Campbell, THE KILLING) outwardly accepts the evidence that she took her own life, but when he starts to receive taunting greeting cards blaming him for her death, he begins to question the suicide. Back on duty, Cardinal and Detective Lise Delorme (Karine Vanasse, REVENGE) are called to a bloody cottage crime scene where at least two people have died, but there are no bodies to be found. With resources stretched thin as Delorme also works a string of ATM robberies, a hunch of Cardinal’s leads them to the two bodies.
