TORONTO (July 23, 2019) – In tonight’s episode of CTV’s THE AMAZING RACE CANADA, host Jon Montgomery revealed that all seven teams were safe from elimination following a tight race riddled with chilling turns. Seven teams will continue on THE AMAZING RACE CANADA, returning with an all-new episode Tuesday, July 30 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, and streaming anytime on CTV.ca and the CTV app.
Tonight’s episode saw racers head to Yellowknife’s Sombe K'e Civic Plaza to receive their next clue, which directed them to Rotary Park on the shores of Great Slave Lake. There, teams drove snowmobiles to a remote point on the lake, where they took part in Dene ice fishing. Using handheld augers and traditional ice fishing equipment, teams drilled through three feet of ice and had to clear the hole so that a properly-baited hook could be placed on a wooden Dene fishing line.
Next, teams visited NWT Diamond Centre where they were tasked with identifying the iconic Canadian symbol on Canadian-mined diamonds, retrieve their unique identification numbers, and then sort them by weight from heaviest to lightest. Racers then returned to Great Slave Lake, where the teammate who didn’t complete the previous challenge had to swim beneath three feet of ice to retrieve their next clue. Then, teams travelled to Air Tindi Float Base, where they performed the initial step Canadian rescue pilots take when identifying the location of emergency situations, and pinpointed 10 different locations across Yellowknife by decoding the longitude and latitude using four separate navigational maps.
Afterwards, teams flew by ski-plane to the Yellowknives Dene First Nation settlement of Dettah where they searched for Jon at the Pit Stop. Dave and Irina arrived first, but were penalized with a two-hour delay for skipping the Map Challenge, allowing Aarthy and Thinesh to take the lead and win a trip to Dublin. The final team to arrive at the Pit Stop, Trish and Amy, learned from Jon that all teams were safe from elimination, with seven teams continuing on to the next leg.
On the next episode of THE AMAZING RACE CANADA, “Clamageddon Continues” (Tuesday, July 30 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, and streaming anytime on CTV.ca and the CTV app), teams head southwest to Nanaimo, B.C., where they take their fears to new heights and are challenged during a search on the beach.

- Aarthy and Thinesh – dating couple from Vancouver

- Lauren and Joanne – sisters from Regina
- Trish and Amy – friends from Etobicoke, Ont.
