Awards Season Programming Lives on HBO Canada and The Movie Network

TORONTO (December 10, 2015) – Premium HBO, Showtime, and IFC programming seen in Canada on The Movie Network and HBO Canada heads into awards season with 10 Golden Globe Award nominations and nine Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. For outstanding performances in 2015 in television categories, HBO is recognized for VEEP, GAME OF THRONES, SILICON VALLEY, SHOW ME A HERO, NIGHTINGALE, and BESSIE, while SHOWTIME nominations for acting include THE AFFAIR, RAY DONOVAN, PENNY DREADFUL, SHAMELESS and NURSE JACKIE.  IFC received a nod for comedy miniseries THE SPOILS BEFORE DYING. THE 73rd ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS air Sunday, Jan. 10 live across the country at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CTV. The 22nd ANNUAL SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARDS are presented Saturday, Jan. 30. Subscribers can catch up on current, first-run HBO and SHOWTIME nominated programming via multiple platforms including TMN GO and TMN On Demand in Eastern Canada. Nominated series from SHOWTIME like THE AFFAIR, RAY DONOVAN, PENNY DREADFUL, and NURSE JACKIE are also available on CraveTV. HBO highlights from the Golden Globes announcement include: a Best Television Series, Drama nomination for GAME OF THRONES; two nominations in the Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy category for VEEP and SILICON VALLEY; a nod for VEEP star Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Best Actress in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy; nominations for Best Actor in a Limited Series/TV Movie for Oscar Isaac (SHOW ME A HERO) and David Oyelowo (NIGHTINGALE); and a nod for Queen Latifah as Best Actress in a Limited Series/TV Movie for the HBO Original Film BESSIE. For SHOWTIME: THE AFFAIR’s Maura Tierney and PENNY DREADFUL’s Eva Green receive their first-ever Golden Globe nominations for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television and Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama, respectively; while RAY DONOVAN’s Liev Schreiber receives his third consecutive nod for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama. Vying for key Screen Actors Guild Awards are: VEEP’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series) and the entire cast (Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series); GAME OF THRONES’ Peter Dinklage (Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series) along with the entire cast (Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series); BESSIE’s Queen Latifah (Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries); SHAMELESS’ William H. Macy (Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series); NURSE JACKIE’s Edie Falco (Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series); and Kristen Wiig for THE SPOILS BEFORE DYING (Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries).
