Sometimes it does the heart good to know that your favourite on-screen characters get along in real life. There is something extra gratifying knowing that these characters – the ones you have come to know and love – are being played by actors who have also become friends. This is true for the cast of the most-watched Canadian drama TRANSPLANT, airing Wednesdays at a new time of 10 p.m. ET/PT on CTV. When TRANSPLANT began filming, the cast quickly became a family, collaborating closely and also spending much of their free time together, enjoying dinners and sightseeing in Montréal, where the series filmed. Here’s what some of the principal cast members had to say about their bond and connection: Hamza Haq (Dr. Bash Hamed) “From day one, when we met at our first boot camp, it was just like, ‘Oh, okay, this is going to be a good time.’ I’m having the time of my life, it’s just been great. I think we all have great chemistry across the board and everybody’s just perfectly cast.” John Hannah (Dr. Jed Bishop) “You can tell who people are just by how they’re hanging out at catering. So I love it, it’s a great thing, a great family that we create like that.” Ayisha Issa (Dr. June Curtis) “We have a massive list of activities and stuff we want to do. We’ve gone to karaoke, we go to dinner, and some people have had a chance to go rock climbing. We try to do different things, but we definitely get along and like to hang out, and it was an instant click. In an instant, everyone got along.” Torri Higginson (Head ER Nurse Claire Malone) “I think something very similar has happened to what probably happens in a hospital in real life. A hospital is similar to a film set; it becomes your entire life. Like, you’re working, the hours are crazy, and so you become very supportive of each other and involved and entwined in each other’s lives. And you sort of feel that happening very naturally with this crew and with this cast.” All-new episodes of TRANSPLANT continue Wednesdays at a new time of 10 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, with episodes also available to stream on CTV.ca and Crave.
