CP24 BREAKFAST Winter Storm Coverage Draws Top Audiences; CTV NEWS TORONTO AT SIX Up 47%

TORONTO (February 1, 2019) – When major events happen in Toronto, viewers turn to CP24 and CTV Toronto for news they can count on, including this week’s significant winter storm.
On Tuesday, Jan. 29,CP24 BREAKFAST more than doubled the A25-54 audience of its closest competitor for storm coverage – becoming its 4th most-watched broadcast on record in the demo and 2nd most-watched among total viewers, reaching 868,000 (2+). Led by hosts Gurdeep Ahluwalia, Pooja Handa, and George Lagogianes, along with meteorologist Bill Coulter, reporter Jamie Gutfreund, traffic and transit specialist Mika Midolo, traffic and safety specialist Cam Woolley, and traffic specialist Lisa Morales, viewers turned to Toronto’s most-watched local morning show for up-to-the-minute breaking news.
As the storm hit the city on Monday, Torontonians overwhelmingly chose CP24 and CTV for CTV NEWS TORONTO AT SIX, resulting in a 47% increase (A25-54) over its average audience this broadcast year on both channels. On CP24 alone, the broadcast more than doubled its normal audience.
Audiences were up 63% (A25-54 and 2+) on Monday and up 60% (A25-54) and 54% (2+) on Tuesday on CP24, versus its full-day average this broadcast year.
