REGINA (December 31, 2019) – CTV Regina announced today that John Hopkins will receive the 2019 Regina Citizen of the Year Award for his exceptional service to the community. As announced during CTV NEWS AT SIX, Hopkins will accept the award at a reception in 2020. “John is a dedicated member of the community and has strived to make the city a better place for everyone,” said Jeff Bollenbach, General Manager, Manitoba/Saskatchewan, Radio and Television, Bell Media, who made the announcement during this evening’s newscast. “We thank him on behalf of all who have benefitted from his time, talents, and business knowledge.” Hopkins is the Chief Executive Officer of the Regina & District Chamber of Commerce.  He has been active in the establishment of the Paul Martin Aboriginal Education Entrepreneurship Initiative which supports the education, health, and well-being of Indigenous youth and their communities. He is a strong supporter and board member of the Regina Trades and Skills Centre, which ensures today’s youth gain business insight into becoming tomorrow’s leaders. The Regina Citizen of the Year Award presented by CTV is an annual tradition now in its 17th year. Each November, CTV Regina accepts nominations from viewers for the Regina Citizen of the Year Award, and at the end of December, presents the award to an individual who exemplifies excellence in community service.
