TORONTO (July 30, 2019) – In tonight’s episode of CTV’s THE AMAZING RACE CANADA, twin sisters Meaghan and Marie, from Halifax, were eliminated after writer’s block caved their chances of continuing the Race. Six teams now remain on THE AMAZING RACE CANADA, returning with an all-new episode Tuesday, August 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, and streaming anytime on CTV.ca and the CTV app.
Tonight’s episode swung into action as seven teams raced through Nanaimo, B.C. to find their next clue at Petroglyph Provincial Park, which directed them to WildPlay Element Parks. There, team members were separated and had 60 seconds to memorize the ingredients of a three-tiered Nanaimo bar before taking a bungee jump and primal swing off a 150-foot bridge and reciting the ingredients together upon landing
Then, the competition got clammy at Deep Bay Marine Field Station, as racers searched the seashore to collect a total of 95 shellfish from four different, but nearly identical, local species. The challenge proved difficult as a record number of teams took a penalty during the Hunt for Clams challenge. As Trish and Amy placed last in the previous week’s non-elimination leg, they were met with a Speed Bump, which challenged them to assemble a 37-piece model skeleton of an orca whale, before moving on to the next challenge at the beach. Racers then headed to Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park, where a Road Block sent one teammate from each duo spelunking (caving) in search of 11 letters, which they had to decode to spell out the location of the Pit Stop.
Teams then raced to Goats on Roof atop Coombs Old Country Market to meet host Jon Montgomery at the mat. Trish and Amy arrived first but were given a two-hour penalty for not completing the clam search, allowing Sarah and Sam to take top spot and win a trip for two to Peru. After taking a substantial amount of time to decode the Pit Stop location, Meaghan and Marie fell into last place and were ultimately eliminated.
On the next episode of THE AMAZING RACE CANADA, “I’m a Little Muskrat on a Mission” (Tuesday, August 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, then streaming anytime on CTV.ca and the CTV app), racers head to Saskatoon, where some teams find themselves stuck while others dance around the problem.
