TORONTO (August 13, 2013) – Across the Deep South, heat, humidity, and darn good hiding places provide a perfect backdrop for dark, despicable deeds. Premiering Wednesday September 4, at 10 p.m. ET/11 p.m. PT, Investigation Discovery’s new series, SOUTHERN FRIED HOMICIDE, transports viewers into the steamy, Southern subculture where captivating lifestyles and charming drawls cover up  crimes. Against a backdrop of Southern hospitality, etiquette, and traditional values, evil lingers  like Spanish Moss. SOUTHERN FRIED HOMICIDE proves that ugliness lurks behind Southern beauty when cracks in moral society give way to cold-blooded murder. Actress Shanna Forrestall (STUDENT BODIES), a native belle of Louisiana, serves as the gatekeeper to these salacious stories. The witty storyteller character also provides some snarky comic relief to the gruesomeness behind the hideous crimes.

SOUTHERN FRIED HOMICIDE premieres Wednesday, September 4 at 10 p.m. ET/ 11 p.m. PT on Investigation Discovery

The series opens with the episode titled “Deadly Devotion”.  What ended in ugliness all started as nice as can be. Down in the Bible Belt, religion is just a way of life, and Mary and Matthew Winkler seem to make the perfect Christian couple. After a year of marriage, Mary begins to see a side of her husband she never knew was there. Making ends meet with two daughters and Matthew’s preacher salary gets even more difficult when Mary becomes the victim of a cheque scam. In order to keep their financial losses a secret from her husband, Mary gets into even more trouble by getting directly involved with the scam. When the house of cards comes crashing down around her, Mary turns to desperate measures to avoid her husband’s violent reaction.
