“[Maddie} made it her own song. Seeing her sing it tonight, it’s as though she’s always sung it” – THE LAUNCH mentor Bryan Adams
“There’s a lot of heart in your voice. You understand what you’re singing about. It’s not just pretty notes. You’re telling a story and you’re believing in the story” – THE LAUNCH mentor Marie-Mai
TORONTO (February 27, 2019) – As announced on tonight’s episode of CTV’s THE LAUNCH, country artist Maddie Storvold from Edmonton was chosen by world-renowned music executive and CEO/Founder of Big Machine Label Group Scott Borchetta, Québec pop icon Marie-Mai, and celebrity mentor/producer Bryan Adams to launch the new original single “Don’t Say You Love Me.” The fifth single from the smash-hit music series was released to radio stations across the country immediately following tonight’s broadcast. The song is also available now on music services everywhere. Encore presentations of THE LAUNCH air Saturdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV and Sundays at 11 a.m. ET on Much (visit CTV.ca and Much.com to confirm local listings) and is streaming now on the CTV app. “Launching ‘Don’t Say You Love Me’…I really believe is going to change my life. I don’t know what to look forward to in my career, I just know there is a lot coming,” said Maddie Storvold. Following the audition process with all five emerging artists Ben Cottrill, Jordane, Maddie Storvold, Nate Daviau, and The Faceplants – the mentors chose Nate Daviau and Maddie Storvold as the two artists to record and perform their own versions of “Don’t Say You Love Me” in front of a live studio audience. In the recording studio, Bryan changed the key of the song for Nate and pushed him to sing as though he was heartbroken. As a long-time songwriter, but a new performer, his challenge was to connect with a song that he hadn’t written himself. When Maddie stepped into the vocal booth, she struggled with slowing down her vocals. During rehearsals, Maddie’s performance experience showed, but when she removed her guitar for part of the performance, Bryan thought it was distracting. In the end, the mentors chose to launch Maddie’s version of “Don’t Say You Love Me” across Canada and to the world via THE LAUNCH’s expansive slate of top music partners. Following tonight’s song launch, Bell Media is poised to throw the full weight of its marketing, promotional, and publicity support behind Maddie Storvold’s “Don’t Say You Love Me” across its national footprint of broadcast and digital entertainment properties. “Don’t Say You Love Me” is written by Bryan Adams, Gretchen Peters, Phil Thornalley and is produced by Bryan Adams. Label: Big Machine Canada. Executive Producers are Scott Borchetta and Randy Lennox. **MEDIA NOTE**- Download images and bio information on Maddie Storvold at thelede.ca.
